The founder of breezehouse is actually a female architect named Michelle Kauffman. She has been very popular and famous in the architecture world for years. She grew up in Iowa and has always concerned about the relationship between environment and humankind. Graduated from Iowa State University, Kauffman then decided to pursue her master degree in Princeton University. After she graduated, she worked with Michael Graves and Frank O. Gehry. It is no doubt that her experience is great that has taken her to her success until today.
The First Project
Her first project is actually not the sunset breezehouse but it is called the glidehouse. She designed this house in 2004 together with her husband Kevin Cullen. This house design was a big success at the time. The government of Washington DC even asked her to make the replica in the National Building Museum. Most of her concept of home designs is inspired by her childhood’s rural farm building, combined with Eames, Eichler along with Japanese houses as well.
The Collaborated Breezehouse Project
In 2005, she collaborated with sunset magazine to create particular design of breezehouse. We all know that the Sunset is a very famous magazine in architecture world or so long. Therefore, having a collaborated project with this popular magazine is definitely a great honor that is pretty hard to achieve. It proves that Michelle Kauffman is really a trusted architect that has no less popularity in architecture world. At the time, she was very glad to have the honor to collaborate with Sunset magazine.
The Sunset magazine has more than five million readers all over the world. Therefore, it is no surprising that collaborating with this magazine will be the greatest experience and advertisement as well for the contractors or designers.
